Mayi Ri Episode 1
Mayi Ri is a Pakistani drama that tackles the controversial issue of child marriage in the country. It follows the story of Ayesha, a young girl who is forced to marry Zaheer, a much older man, by her parents. Ayesha’s life changes drastically as she has to deal with the challenges of being a wife, a mother, and a student at the same time. She also faces the opposition of Zaheer’s first wife, Samina, who is jealous and resentful of her presence. Ayesha’s only support comes from her friend Fakhir, who secretly loves her and tries to help her escape from her unhappy marriage. EPISODE 1 Synopsis:
The episode begins with a scene of a wedding ceremony, where a young girl named Ayesha (Aina Asif) is being married off to Zaheer (Nauman Ejaz), a much older man who already has a wife and children. Ayesha’s parents have agreed to this marriage for financial reasons, despite Ayesha’s protests and pleas. Ayesha is terrified and heartbroken, as she has to leave her home, her friends, and her education behind.
The episode then shifts to Ayesha’s new home, where she meets Zaheer’s first wife, Samina (Maria Wasti), who is hostile and bitter towards her. Samina makes it clear that she does not accept Ayesha as her co-wife, and that she will make her life miserable. Ayesha also meets Zaheer’s children, who are older than her and treat her with disdain. Ayesha feels lonely and isolated in this unfamiliar environment, where she has no one to talk to or support her.
The episode also introduces Fakhir (Samar Abbas), Ayesha’s childhood friend who secretly loves her. Fakhir is devastated by Ayesha’s marriage, and vows to rescue her from Zaheer. He tries to contact Ayesha through phone calls and messages, but Ayesha is afraid to answer him, as she knows that Zaheer will not tolerate any communication with him. Fakhir also faces the opposition of his father, who is a friend of Zaheer and does not want him to interfere in his marital affairs.
The episode ends with a cliffhanger, as Zaheer comes to Ayesha’s room at night and forces himself on her. Ayesha screams in pain and horror, while Samina listens from outside and smirks. Fakhir hears Ayesha’s scream from his phone, and rushes to save her.
